high amps in alternators?
is to many amps like 160 dangerous or should I stick to lower like 40 80 or 100 plan to have more than factory music and dvd player but nothing more but like the powermaster 160 amp chrome with the one wire and internal voltage regulator. how do I know what is currently on car now and what is to much or too little is question also wondering why my current battery is grounded to my waterpump if anyone knows
A higher than stock amperage alternator will not harm anything. The alternator will not put out anymore amps than the electrical system demands at any given time. To find out what is currently on the car, it is sometimes marked on the casing or on a sticker on the alternator. It may have to be removed to find the markings though.
