I have been told that as long as the transmission is coming from a Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge of the same model year with the same engine type and speed (in this specific case 3.0 and 3 speed). So like a 1996 Chrysler Lebarron that is a 3.0L 3-Speed's transmission will work in a Dodge Caravan that is a 3.0L 3-Speed. It makes sense, and I trust the person who told me this. I guess I just want to be sure I don't have to shell out the cash twice if this isn't the case!!
Chrystler, Plymouth and Dodge all have the same manufacturer for engines and transmissions(ha ha Im thinking its mitsubishi actually lol) so as long as its the same size engine, and semi close to the same year it will fit perfectly. The 3.0 is a very popular engine and they have not done anything to it in the past decade at least so the transmission of any vehicle with the 3.0 would fit it. It is just a matter of making sure that the transmission transaxles will line up with the tires and axles. I would be most comfortable putting a van transmission into a van and a car tranny into a car myself since the frames are manufactured by the same people as well and so it is a guarantee that they will align correctly.
