Negetive Ground Battery

My subwoofer has engine interferance.?

When my car is turned off my sound system is perfect. When i turn the key and start the engine i get an annoying humming noise. Its coming from the engine as it intensifies as the RPM's go up. When i turn on the wipers aswel i can hear the motor noise through the speakers.

I have tried many things to solve the problem.

The noise seems to be coming from the radio as when I disconnect the rca cables from the separate amplifier the noise stops. I have connected my phone directly to the amp and the sound is perfect even when the car is on.

I was told it may be a bad ground on the radio. I carried a wire directly from the black ground wire from the radio to the negetive of the battery. It didnt help.

Any suggestions???

Thank YOu!!

1) If you used a small guage wire running from the radio to the battery, that wont help, ground needs to be as short as possible, preferable less then 3 feet, you can ground to any clean, unpainted metal connected to the chassis. Long grounds on small guage wires have unnessisary resistance that can cause that kind of noise.

2) Check your RCA's make sure theyre not directional, and if they are that theyre going the right way.

3) Rule out the RCA's. Now, connecting your phonne right at the amp solved the problem, but that cut out both the RCA's and the radio, try plugging in your phone through the RCA's, disconnect them right at the radio and get an adaptor if needed to connect through them, if you still get noise its the RCA, if not, its the radio.

4) If its the radio, you could try a noise filter inline, they dont always work though and its relly just a bandaid. Fix that ground too. But its also possiable its a bad noise gate inside the radio, worst case, might have to send it out for repair or get a new one.
