Alternator terminal questions?
My new alternator has 5 terminals. "E", "F", "N", "A", and "BAT". I know what the "BAT" is for, but how are the other ones used? I need to back up first: This is replacing a 12V alternator on my tractor that had an external regulator(doesn't have one now) and I am trying to wire it up to work on my tractor with no regulator harness.
Without the proper regulator and hamess The alternator will not work proper. If you luck out and get it to charge. It will burn up the battery. You need a signual for the alternator to charge. and stop charging when the battery is fully charge. The A is the amps The F is the field. The E is most likely a S Signual The N is - or ground. Without the regualotor the battery will drain to ground. And you are setting up a fire hazary.
