We just bought a new house in GA. It was build in 2007. The water was on when we were shown the house, but when we bought it the water was changed into our name and turned off. There was a note on the door, put there by the city, saying "turn water on at curb"? When I go out to the curb I see three things. A shallow hole that is not covered with a red knob at the bottom. I tired to turn it all the way in both directions nothing happened. A 1 x 1/2 hole covered by a blue cover that says water. It has the meter on the pipe under the cover. One side of the pipe looks like it is not attached very well to the meter, that side has a two circle shaped knobs on top of one another with a out jutting metal piece on the top. I tried to turn it but it didn't want to move. On the other side of the pipe (the side that IS well attached) there is nothing to turn, just pipe. HELP! Oh and the third hole is just that a big long dark scary round hole, covered by a metal plate that says water
The "scary" hole is probably the one with the shutoff. The water department or the fire dept will have a curb cock shotoff that is needed to turn the water back on. Give them a call.
