hi everyone i am with telstra bigpond cable plan and on the plan it says in some places you can download 30mbps eg melbourne city. other places its 17mbps. i guess i would be happy with 17mbps, except when i do connections test it shows my download is average 5mbps. i tried a few sites including telstras own site and all site gave a range of 3.5mbps - 8mbps. this for me is not what i really paid for. worse yet i have the modem set up through a router (max speed on box says 54mbps) so that my laptop can have wireless. with my laptop sitting next to router my average speed is 3mbps range 0.8mbps - 4mbps. can anyone tell me what the problem maybe. has anyone else had similar problems please help i am at my wits end and considering changing isp i am a uni student and the internet is very important. the high speeds are necessary i think for me cause i watch alot of recorded lectures that are posted on internet also i have not reached my quota limit i have only used 1/3 of my quota
drop telstra they are good at ripping ppl of. they did same thing to me. i was on the $79.95 extreme plan and i got worse results than you without a router. ditch them find someone better
