WHICH IS MORE EFFICEINT UPS OR INVERTER?
I have a 650va UPS and 100AH deep cycle battery. At full charge, the battery can last for 5 hours on a 160 watts continous load before the UPS starts to beep. When I put off my 80W 21" TV the UPS stops beeping and I can sleep all night with my 40watts wall fan at its slowest speed and still play my 50 watts stereo set for an hour before leaving for work without the UPS Beeping.
However, I have read in another forum where some peeps post 5hours 160 watts continous load on an 85ah battery using their inverter.
NOTE: I have a separate 50ah charger for charging the battery. I have been using the battery for almost 3 years now and performance has not decreased.
thanks.
"When I put off my 80W" What does "put off" mean? turn off?
"WHICH IS MORE EFFICEINT UPS OR INVERTER?" A UPS contains an inverter. A UPS consists of a charger, a battery and an inverter. So you are comparing apples and oranges. Like asking which is more efficient, a gas engine, or it's pistons.
What exactly is your question? If it is just about efficiency of an inverter, then you need more information before that can be calculated.
Why are you using a UPS? Overall, it has a low efficiency. You put in a certain amount of energy from the wall socket and get perhaps half that out. The rest is lost as heat in the charger, the battery, and the inverter.
