How do I repair a non functioning plug socket UK?

I thought it was the appliance plug fuse at first but I changed that and it still didn't work so I tried plugging into a different socket and the appliance works fine. I have opened the socket and all 3 wires are connected properly, can anyone please tell me what to try next. Oh by the way I did check the fuse board and they are all switched on.

Of course, officially, you should get an electrician to look at it. However if you want to sort the problem yourself, I would recommend turning off the power supply to the socket at the Consumer Unit, then swap the front plate (with the plug holes in) for a new one, obviously making sure that you note where each wire came from (That is also assuming that no one had messed around with the wiring in the first place!)
