Is a power cut the same as switching off at the plug?
I have just set up a very expensive home theatre system up at my new house and have just had a power cut!!! Will my equipment be damaged at all? It is all running through a belkin surge protector that has an 'extreme level' of protection so hopefully that will work in my favour! It was also all in standby mode. is loosing power the same to the equipment as just switching off at the plug?
Also my imac was ON at the time the power shut off, will this be okay? (again it runs through a surge protector)
Thanks
Your equipment should be OK...usually what will happen is you will get a surge when they turn the power back on...you can lose some data in the computer but usually only what you were working on at the time...sometimes it will change settings on you too so you have to reconfigure the equipment back to how you want it...After they turn on the power you may waqnt to replace the surge protector usually a surge protector is only good for one good surge...even in normal use if the light flickers on the surge you need to replace it....
