Here are a few basic pointers on car audio:
1. Basic car audio consists of 3 categories of items: Head Units (these are the cd players, radio, etc that is in your dash board), Speakers (which includes full-range speakers, components and subwoofers) and amplifers.
2. Power is stated in RMS ('Root Mean Square') and in max wattage. Never use maximum wattage as this amount of power will never be realised. When ever you read a power figure always make sure it is in RMS.
3. Typical full-range speakers are what they say they are: they produce sounds (almost) throughout the whole audio range (20 Hertz to 20,000 Hertz). Subwoofers only produce sounds below a certain level, usually between 200-300 Hz. Therefore, this answers your first question - if you want bass, a subwoofer is your answer.
4. Amplifers. They recieve the signal from your HU and amplify it before putting it into the speaker or subwoofer. You will need an amplifer to run any subwoofer and good quality speakers only sound great when they are powered by an amplifer.
I suggest you look at a good quality 10" or 12" subwoofer (JBL is good, Sony is bad) which is rated at about 200-300w RMS, and match this up with a 1 channel amp rated at very similar power level e.g. 200-300w RMS x 1 channel.
The specs you have provided does not show the amplifers power (this is the most important!). It says the sub is 400w RMS so this would work perfectly with a 400w x 1 RMS channel amplifer.
Do you intent to upgrade your speakers as well? In addition, you may need to put a new Head Unit in to power the amplifer (and thus, sub).
